Boyd Acquires Specialist in Technology for Highly Regulated Industries

Boyd Corporation is a world-leading innovator of engineered materials and thermal management technologies. In June, the company announced the acquisition of GMN, a Seattle, Washington-based global leader specializing in the development of customized solutions and products for highly regulated industries, including medical, eMobility, and aerospace. GMN’s technology offerings include Human Machine Interface solutions (backlit membranes, sensors, and capacitive touch devices), graphic overlays, optical encoders for precision controls, printed critical interface materials for touchscreens, and positive temperature coefficient heaters.

“We are thrilled to bring GMN, a company with a strong legacy of innovation and product excellence, into the Boyd family,” according to Boyd CEO Doug Britt. “GMN complements and broadens our already diverse portfolio of differentiated technology solutions. This acquisition further enhances our ability to solve our customers’ most demanding performance materials challenges.”

Boyd continues to invest in value-driven innovation and technology to create marketable differentiation for customers. GMN’s capabilities further support and are tightly aligned with Boyd’s robust global manufacturing footprint, design expertise and time to market approach. The acquisition will operate as part of Boyd Corporation, a global brand that carries nearly 100 years of tradition and vision committed to unrelenting quality, developing advanced technology, and reducing carbon footprint.

Earlier in the year, Boyd announced that it had received recognition for the second consecutive year through the Sustainable Development Programme at Deutsche Telekom, a global leader in integrated telecommunications systems. This year’s Gold Award marks an improvement from last year’s Silver Award and recognizes continued cultural development and investment in sustainability and corporate social responsibility programs.

Boyd, through its specialty thermal division, Aavid, received the Gold Award in recognition of excellent collaboration and outstanding achievement for implementing, emphasizing, and advancing corporate social responsibility systems and policies; fostering broad program engagement from hourly employees to leadership; promoting environmental management, life cycle thinking, ethical and fair labor practices, and protecting human rights throughout operations and supply chain.

This prestigious honor recognizes best practices and leadership amongst Deutsche Telekom’s supply chain in the area of Circular Economy, according to company executives. Receiving the award confirms Boyd’s commitment to innovate and achieve tangible results in reducing environmental impact by implementing best sustainability and responsibility practices.

“We protect the environments and societies that support Boyd operations worldwide,” notes Britt. “Social and environmental consciousness is a part of who we are, what we stand for, and our global responsibility. Sustainability and corporate social responsibility are sources of value creation for Boyd customers and shareholders in addition to being an ethical requirement to conduct business. Being recognized by one of the world’s leading telecommunications companies for our achievements in corporate social responsibility is an excellent confirmation of Boyd's progress. We are very proud of our people who’ve enabled this achievement.”
