Bregante + Company LLP provides tax and advisory services to clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Bregante is committed to the notion that, as a certified public accountancy firm, it is in a unique position to be a valuable resource to clients in every aspect of their financial decision-making process. That approach allows the firm to offer sound financial and tax advice that gives clients a foundation for long-term success, according to officials. Clients include closely held businesses, high net-worth individuals, and nonprofit organizations.
"We nurture service partnerships with our clients that enable us to advise strategically and comprehensively, and to provide creative and technically sound advice in a highly personalized manner," says Firm Managing Partner David Crouch. "Our clients look to us for much more than traditional compliance work. We forge long-term client relationships by blending expert tax and accounting services with strategic planning and consultation. We don't want to be a tax compliance shop where someone may just need their taxes done, and we don't see them again until next year. We like to partner with our clients and advise them in every area of their business or family life. These services may include assistance with real estate transactions, estate planning, business succession planning, cash and asset management, and much more."
According to Crouch, clients not only benefit from the broad range of experience of the firm's partners and managers but also from its collective network of professional advisors who are experts in their respective fields: attorneys, bankers, financial advisors, retirement planning specialists, real estate brokers, and others. That network, along with Bregante's in-house expertise allows the firm to act as a valuable and trusted member of each client's business or financial team.
"We are here to help our clients through hard times," notes Crouch. "The ongoing pandemic, booming inflation, changing interest rates, and an unstable market all create challenges, and we are ready to work with them to navigate through those difficulties. We have a very diverse team of people who all work well together. Covid has changed how we work and interact a little, but we still have a tight-knit company where everyone is accepted, respected, and appreciated. We are proud of our diverse and inclusive work culture."
Bregante was established in San Francisco in 1976. It later opened a second office in Novato to service the community in Marin. In 2007, the firm decided to open a third location, in the East Bay. "We chose Hacienda for its great location near BART and the freeway, its professional offices, and all the amenities throughout the office park," says Crouch.
The role of the Pleasanton office is to better serve existing clients in the East Bay as well as market to new clients in the area and to further build relationships with service partners and other professional services. Bregante has 20 employees who utilize the Hacienda office. Many of those employees are hybrid workers, meaning they work in the office part time and part time remote.
"It is easy to think of accountants as stuffy. We're not," notes Crouch. "Even when the pandemic has required us to work remotely instead of in the office, we have found ways to enjoy time together as colleagues and friends. We've hosted online events with a wide variety of fun activities, from paint nights to baking demonstrations."
