Hacienda Retains Best Workplace for Commuters Designation

Hacienda has been named one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters in 2023 for offering exceptional employee-provided commuter benefits that meet the National Standard of Excellence criteria. "Hacienda is one of the top locations in the nation named as a Best Site for Commuters," says Julie Bond, Program Manager, Best Workplaces for Commuters. "They provide outstanding commuter benefits that help positively impact commutes to and from their site."

Guided by the conviction that transportation alternatives are essential to meeting the needs of today's workforce, Hacienda has crafted one of the most comprehensive commute service programs available. The wide range of free and convenient offerings include access to local and inter-regional transit and shuttles, with rail and bus amenities incorporated into the design of the development; incentives for new riders trying commute alternatives; preferential parking for rideshare and rideshare assistance;  an emergency ride home program; a library of commuting resources; pedestrian and biking facilities; and centralized commute information services.

Hacienda has been repeatedly recognized under the Best Workplaces for Commuters program as a Best Site. Locations so designated must provide a suite of commuting benefits to a specific area and collection of businesses and, in Hacienda's case, residential communities as well. Hacienda's status as a Best Site among the Best Workplaces for Commuters means that any of the development's nearly 700 businesses can also apply to become designated as a Best Workplace for Commuters Employer. Employers meeting the Standard of Excellence should be able to better attract and retain employees, recruit the best employees, reduce turnover, increase worker productivity, and help employees arrive at work relaxed and on time, according to Bond.

At Hacienda, the Best Workplaces for Commuters program affords employers an easy way to be recognized for helping their business, their employees, and the environment. Simply by applying for this designation and educating employees about existing Hacienda commuter benefits, companies can help reduce the rate of drive-alone commuting and enjoy tax and cost savings. Encouraging employees to use Hacienda's existing commuter program helps reduce environmental impacts. It also demonstrates environmental excellence by helping reduce the demand for gasoline, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and cutting air pollution.

The Best Workplaces for Commuters program offers designated organizations access to a range of support services to assess and promote non-driving commuting of employees, including organizational assessment and implementation tool-kits, web-based tools and webinars, staff training, and information exchange. "We are extremely proud about our progressive commuter benefit program that saves employees time, money and stress," says Bond. "Excellent commuter benefit programs may reward these companies not just with a national designation, but buoys workplace productivity, customer loyalty, and brand recognition in an increasingly competitive marketplace."
