Three Valleys Community Foundation (3VCF), the philanthropic hub for the Tri-Valley, announced the official launch of 925 GIVES in late July. This new regional fundraising campaign will culminate in a 24-hour online giving day on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Rooted in 3VCF's mantra to "Give, Grant, and Grow," the 925 GIVES initiative aims to spark a groundswell of local generosity, boost unrestricted support for nonprofits, and build a stronger, more connected philanthropic ecosystem across the inland communities of Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
According to 3VCF CEO/President Kelly Bowers, the new campaign taps "into the collective power and promise of everyday people giving in support of their communities. Imagine a million people or more, each giving whatever they can, and merging their gifts together to fuel transformative change in their own communities. This broad-scale giving opportunity unlocks the potential of first-time donors and redefines philanthropy as something everyone can take part in. By broadening the base of giving and embracing shared impact, we move from a model of scarcity to one of shared abundance–where everyone has a stake and every gift truly matters."
The region anchored by the 925 area code includes 23 cities, more than 998,000 households, and serves a population of nearly 2.85 million people. As local nonprofits continue to face growing demand amid shrinking resources, 925 GIVES offers a timely and much-needed opportunity to engage new donors, bolster annual campaigns, and raise critical unrestricted funds, officials say. Importantly, donations to 925 GIVES are not restricted to September 25. The campaign features a flexible donation window from August 25 through September 30, 2025, with early donations and extended giving options available before and after the main event.
The campaign "is the embodiment of our mission at 3VCF, bringing people, resources, and ideas together to create lasting local impact," notes Bowers. "It is absolutely essential that we step up to help procure and deploy funds to the extraordinary nonprofits in our region."
The campaign will include real-time donation tracking and a public leaderboard during the 24-hour giving event on September 25 as well as prize drawings and sponsored match incentives at key intervals between 9 am and 5 pm. This hyper-local, focused giving day is designed to be simple, secure, and community-driven. It is powered by 3VCF through an accessible, trusted, and secure online fundraising platform. Enhanced by social media, peer-to-peer outreach and storytelling, the campaign encourages individuals, businesses, and civic leaders to "Give Where You Live" and support the community causes they care about most.
Eligible nonprofits, those in good standing, serving the 925 area code region, and pre-registered in 3VCF's growing Nonprofit Directory, can sign up at https://www.925gives.org/register between now and September 15 to participate and receive free access to training, fundraising templates, marketing tools, and ongoing donor engagement resources. Sponsorship opportunities for 925 GIVES are available for individuals, companies, and foundations who wish to play a lead role in building and incentivizing this new platform for local giving.
"As business leaders, we understand that a thriving economy depends on the strength and well-being of the communities we serve," says John Sensiba, Board Chair of 3VCF and Managing Partner of Sensiba LLP. The campaign "is not just about philanthropy–it's about investing in the local ecosystem that sustains our workforce, our clients, and our shared future. When we support the nonprofits that lift up individuals and families, we help create a more resilient, innovative, and vibrant region for all. This is a smart investment, and one every business should be proud to make. It's also a powerful expression of corporate social responsibility, demonstrating that our commitment goes beyond profit to include purpose, people, and place. By participating, we lead by example and model the kind of values-driven leadership our region—and the next generation—needs now more than ever."
