Kung Fu Kids Helps Children Grow

Wushu Central Martial Arts Academy has been rebranded exclusively as Kung Fu Kids, according to Founder, CEO, and Master Instructor Sifu David Chang. The company's mission is to help children grow into successful adults by instilling confidence, discipline, and resilience through martial arts training. Kung Fu Kids is more than martial arts. It is a child development program designed to teach leadership, boost confidence, and build positive character traits that help children grow up to become successful adults in a rapidly changing world.

Adults may be surprised by how much martial arts can improve a child's academic performance and behavior. "It's not just about self-defense; it's about shaping better, more confident individuals," Chang says. "Our program focuses not only on physical fitness but also on personal development. Martial arts teaches children skills that last a lifetime, skills that are critical for success in any endeavor. We're helping turn children into successful adults through the life skills that we're teaching them. The process of growing in the martial arts gives them confidence, teaches them how to have a growth mindset, and teaches them to become very resilient. We help catapult these children to greater success."

Kung Fu Kids is currently the fastest growing children's enrichment program focused on martial arts in California, according to Chang. Since 2003, the company has expanded to five locations across the Bay Area, with a sixth one scheduled to open in San Jose in July 2026. Kung Fu Kids, which opened at Hacienda in 2023, has a 4.9 star Google rating.

"Kung Fu Kids instructors are passionate about helping children become the best version of themselves," notes Chang. "We are also proud of our Spectrum Stars program, which focuses on neurodivergent children to give them an experience where they can find success and accomplishment. We are deeply committed to meeting every child where they're at."

The Spectrum Stars program introduces specialized skill-based training for children who have limited physical, intellectual, social, and emotional abilities. The program emphasizes building fundamental skills along with a strategic balance of martial arts training. The company also offers programs for children aged two to three, four to six, seven to nine, and 10 to 14. Women's self-defense classes are available at Kung Fu Kids, along with birthday party packages and a Parent's Night Out offer. Parent's Night Out gives parents a night off while their children have fun "doing safe, fun, cool activities with friends," according to company officials.

The company offers franchising opportunities for people looking to become their own boss by owning and operating a Kung Fu Kids studio. Kung Fu Kids is expanding nationwide through the company's franchise offering, which suggests there will be many more studios opening in the coming years.
