"Great Homes Deserve Great Rooms," is the motto at Hacienda's newest furniture store, which opened in September. Carrying more than 40 lines, the company focuses on furniture that offers comfort, fashion and style at affordable prices.

There's furniture for the bedroom, dining room, living room, family room, children's rooms, and the home office, along with entertainment centers, recliners, accent pieces, and beautiful accessories. The store carries lines with many finish options including oak, pine, cherry, and other woods.

"Great Rooms is a small company but with a lot of talent," says manager Pamela Brazil. "All of our sales people have been in the business for a long time. Our customers receive good service, and we try to solve their furniture-buying needs.

"The store is unique because both owners have been in the furniture business a long time, one for over 30 years and another all his life," she continues. "They buy things that are different, things that aren't like everywhere else. Customers are very pleased when they come in and they think that our store is unique. We have excellent prices and we have catalogs for every manufacturer we carry, so you can order anything from the catalogs."

Brazil notes that people's furniture needs vary a great deal, and Great Rooms offers choices from casual to formal, with fabric choices to match.

Great Rooms' Hacienda location is the main store for the company. They operate a second location in Pleasanton and an outlet store in Concord.

Great Rooms, 416-0500, is located at 4565 Rosewood Drive and is open daily.

HomeLife offers style and fashion along with upcoming and current trends at a great value for the customer, says Diane Sheatsley, store manager for the last two years. HomeLife has a wide selection for formal or casual living rooms, motion furniture that reclines or inclines, formal and casual dining, children's furniture for toddlers on up, bedroom furniture, home office, decorator accents, lamps, accent rugs, and a full mattress department.

Styles and looks abound with city or California casual being very popular. They also offer mid- to large-scale, comfortable furniture with many fabric options. Sheatsley said that customers also enjoy the country casual, classic or traditional styles.

There are many woods, finishes and fabrics to choose from and the store is constantly adding to its choice of fabrics. Custom looks are possible as each fabric is available for any piece of furniture HomeLife carries.

An interesting and timely trend, says Sheatsley, is furniture in wood with clean lines (the Danish modern or Scandinavian look), often with brushed nickel or chrome accents. Color is 'in' for almost every room and leather is another look that is attracting buyers.

HomeLife offers design help as well. "Our experienced customer consultants give guidance and offer options without any pressure to help customers determine their style," says Sheatsley.

"We ask customers what they will be doing with a room, what furniture they have now that they like or will be using, and if there are certain trends or woods that they like. To help the customer we keep asking questions to help them focus on what they want."

The store is strictly a showroom and all items must be ordered. Because of the store's close alliance with vendors, the products can be in the customer's home within 28 days. HomeLife offers a buying program, delivery, and pre-inspection of products at its Hayward facility before they are delivered to the customer's home.

HomeLife is open seven days a week. The address is 4555 Rosewood Drive and the phone number is (925) 227-8400.
