WHEELS SERVICE CHANGES

The Livermore/Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA), operator of Wheels, has instituted some changes to the Wheels system. These changes provide new services for Hacienda employees and residents.

Route 8 Modifications

Weekday Route 8 service on Hopyard Road and Owens Drive has increased to every 30 minutes during rush hour.

Route 9 Modifications

A new Route 9 bus stop has been added at the Kaiser Campus providing convenient transit access to Kaiser employees. The new Kaiser stop is the first stop in the morning after leaving BART and the last stop in the afternoons before arriving at BART.

Route 10 Modifications

Route 10 no longer provides service to Dublin Boulevard or Stoneridge Mall when the Rapid is operating. Route 10 passengers headed westbound to Dublin and Stoneridge Mall will need to transfer to the new Rapid line at the BART Station. Eastbound travelers in Dublin and Stoneridge Mall will need to board the Rapid and transfer to Route 10 at the BART Station to access Pleasanton. Rapid bus bays are located on the Dublin side of the BART Station. Bus headsigns on the Rapid indicate the direction of travel (R Stoneridge Mall denotes westbound travel and R East Avenue denotes eastbound travel). During rush hour, some eastbound Route 10 trips will display Route 10V on their headsigns. Route 10V trips only operate in Pleasanton and do not provide service to Livermore. Through traffic to Livermore should wait for the regular Route 10. Early morning, late evening, and all weekend service on Route 10 will continue to provide service to Dublin and Stoneridge Mall. Passengers are advised to closely review the bus schedules.

Route 70 Modifications

Wheels is operating an additional morning trip on the Route 70X on a trial basis to accommodate rider requests. The additional 70X bus will depart the Pleasant Hill BART station at 6:04 am, the Walnut Creek BART station at 6:14 am and arrive at the East Dublin/Pleasanton BART station at 6:39 am. This trip will continue as Route 9 into Hacienda at 6:43 am. This additional trip is being provided on a two month trial basis ending April 1, 2011 and average ridership of 10 daily passengers is required to maintain this service. Passengers will be provided a two week warning period prior to April 1st if the service will be discontinued.

New Rapid Service

Wheel's new Rapid buses provide a fast, limited stop service between Stoneridge Mall and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory utilizing a special system that allows the buses to get through intersections faster. The Rapid operates every 10 minutes during rush hour and every 20 minutes midday on weekdays only. Passengers with destinations in Hacienda can transfer from the Rapid to one of several lines serving the park at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station. For additional information on the Rapid, visit www.trivalleyrapid.com or see the bus book.
