"Lifestyle Club" Concept Emphasizes Group Work-Outs as Well as Traditional Fitness Training
Club One at Pleasanton is coming to Hacienda, "just in time for the new year!" exclaims Channing Azzolino, the local owner and driving force behind the new facility.
A chiropractor, cycle and Barre instructor, mother, and all-around fitness enthusiast, Azzolino has long nurtured the dream of establishing a club that appeals to other busy working parents and families. To make it a reality, she partnered with Club One, represented by Adrienne McBride, a master Pilates instructor and health and wellness expert, bringing together premium group fitness programming with "the exceptional member experience and amenities that the Club One brand is known for."
The Pleasanton location exemplifies Club One's lifestyle club concept, which incorporates a strong focus on professionally led group work-outs, in addition to more traditional fitness training. "We've found that people are more successful achieving their goals if they are involved in some sort of group exercise and experience a sense of community," Azzolino notes. "The camaraderie of fellow members really helps to provide the motivation and support to attain higher levels of fitness."
To that end, the Hacienda facility will offer an ample schedule of classes typically available only at high-end boutique studios, such as Barre classes, which utilize the ballet barre to enhance strength and flexibility; and Pilates reformer classes, which make more efficient use of the reformer to maximize its fitness potential.
Azzolino is especially enthusiastic about the facility's cutting-edge indoor spin-cycling studio. Live instructors will lead class members through an assortment of invigorating trail and road rides filmed on location around the world and projected on a high-definition, forward-motion video screen. "We're the first in the East Bay to offer this visual component. It gives the rider a sensory experience unlike any other," she remarks.
Functional and circuit training, TRX, bootcamps, kickboxing, Zumba, and yoga classes are part of a standard membership.
The club will also offer an active childcare program designed to launch its young charges on an early road to fitness. A 2,000-square-foot dedicated Playcare area will feature a special room for infants, a large indoor play structure, instructor-led music and movement sessions, tables for arts and crafts, and homework stations. "It's very important for us that kids want to be there, and parents will want them to be there, too."
The emphasis on fitness does not stop at the door of the light and airy 17,000-square foot facility. "Club One strives to extend our mission of improving the quality of life beyond our walls as a true community partner. We take an active role in helping to build healthier communities and look forward to partnering with other local businesses, schools, and organizations to improve the communities we serve through fitness and wellness," Azzolino comments.
Founded in 1991 by an entrepreneurial local couple, Club One first opened in the heart of San Francisco's Financial District to make fitness accessible to busy professionals before, during, and after work. The business has since grown to 14 Bay Area locations and more than 80 managed fitness centers across the country.
The Hacienda facility is on track for a late-December opening at 5860 West Las Positas Blvd. To schedule a sneak peek, call 925/924-1110 or visit ClubOne.com/Pleasanton .
