Four Wheels for Two

He could shorten a 75 minute commute to ten if he drove a car, but Ben Allen is planning to bicycle to Hacienda Business Park from Livermore starting in October of this year.

Ben, who has spent 22 of his 30 years in the Tri-Valley area, is one of many local residents who will be transferred to Pleasanton by the AT&T Long Lines office in San Francisco. A true Tri-Valley resident, Ben lives in Livermore, will work in Pleasanton, and continues to participate in the single adult activities at Valley Christian Center in Dublin.

"Having grown up in the valley, I am very excited to be able to live and work in the same community”, says Ben, who for the past six years has been employed by AT&T and is currently Inventory Manager in Equipment Engineering. "My first thought was that I would be able to ride a bicycle to work ... something I have always wanted to do.”

Ben has already made a trial run on his Viscount 10 speed, and says the trip will take about 30 minutes ... "and that's not pushing very hard.” He currently vanpools to work, which takes about an hour and fifteen minutes each way. But, between now and October, Ben won't be using the time to catch up on his sleep. He says his fellow vanpool commuters are keeping him busy with queries about what it's like to work for AT&T, and requests for employment applications for work at the new office in Hacienda Business Park.
