The League XS Apprenticeship Academy of Cosmetology and Barbering Opens at Hacienda

In April 2025, owner Daniel Moses opened a new teaching facility at 4515 Rosewood Drive in Hacienda. The League XS Apprenticeship Academy of Cosmetology and Barbering trains, equips, and licenses individuals who are interested in becoming extraordinary stylists or barbers. The staff at the training program brings more than 20 years of industry experience to their students.

“When students enroll with us they can have an apprentice license issued to them while they are still taking courses,” Moses says. “This license allows them to work in a salon or barbershop and earn money while learning with us in class. We are also the only program in CA. that allows students to continue taking courses with us after they have achieved their required hours of training. Students can come to training at no additional cost even after they have graduated from the program. Continued education is the key to essential growth. So we promote that and live by it.”.

The League XS Apprenticeship Academy of Cosmetology and Barbering has ongoing, open enrollment for its Barber and Cosmetology program, which accepts individuals aged 16 and older. Remarkably, students who can devote time to the program can achieve a Barber or Cosmetology license in just one month. But a full-time schedule of courses is not required to enter the program. Instead, students can attend classes for a minimum of one day a week..

“Creating beauty industry leaders is our mission,” notes Moses, an Oakland native. “Many people cannot take time out of life to attend classes to achieve a license or training in a new career. In many cases the rigorous schedule of school is what has kept people from pursuing their dreams as a beauty industry professional. The pathway we offer allows working individuals to attend classes and still be able to afford life.”.

The League XS Apprenticeship Academy of Cosmetology and Barbering has been approved as an Eligible Training Provider under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), according to Moses. Potential students may be eligible for assistance with program costs through local Workforce Development Boards because the League XS Apprenticeship Academy of Cosmetology and Barbering offers a WIOA-approved apprenticeship program.

In addition to its new Hacienda facility, the League XS Apprenticeship Academy of Cosmetology and Barbering has a corporate-owned office in Antioch and 16 satellite locations throughout the state. The League XS program had a facility in Pleasanton a few years ago that operated out of Village High School.

“We were looking to get back in the Tri-Valley area, and Hacienda turned out to be a good fit for us,” adds Moses. “We are excited to be back in the community. Operating in Pleasanton helps us reach a community that really needs a program like ours. Currently, there are no other cosmetology or barbering programs in the area. We had students who would commute from the Tri-Valley area to attend our classes in Antioch. Our new home in Hacienda helps those students out with us being local to them. We also look forward to meeting many new people looking to begin a career in the beauty industry.”.
