PLEASANTON, Calif. — Hacienda saw net positive absorption during the first quarter of 2020 over the close of 2019. Tenant activity proceeded at a good pace with approximately 40,000 sf of net gain in occupancy. Despite a slight increase in retail space vacancy in the first three months, increases in office space and flex space occupancy combined to increase overall occupancy in Hacienda to 87.28%. Tenant transactions consisted of both new incoming tenants and relocations of existing tenants within the development. The park is the largest mixed-use development of its kind in Northern California.

"We are certainly encouraged by the first quarter activity but also recognize that the subsequent effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the response to this event present a number of significant challenges that will likely be seen throughout the balance of the year" said James Paxson, Hacienda's general manager. "Currently, our businesses are focused on responding to the pandemic by taking the necessary actions to insure the safety of their employees and the community at large. However, over the last several weeks, we have seen encouraging signs of adaptability and resourcefulness as part of this response and believe that the resilience that our business community has always displayed will be present in the current crisis as well."

Major transactions to date in 2020 were seen involving companies in a variety of business segments. Activity includes: Packet Fusion (Telecommunications), State Farm Insurance (Insurance), Inscripta (Biomedical), Chabot Las Positas College District (Education), Accelight Technologies, Inc. (Manufacturing), Cupertino Electric (Construction Contractors), Joyful Kids Club (Tutoring), and ACCI (Business Services).
