Hacienda Shows Resilience Amid 2020 Challenges

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Hacienda's resilience was on full display as tenants of all sizes adapted to rapidly changing conditions brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and the related response throughout 2020. Whether pivoting to new business models, developing remote work regimes or actively engaging in work to address the pandemic in one form or another, Hacienda businesses worked hard to meet the challenges with which they were confronted.

"While no new building development occurred in Hacienda during 2020, a number of projects were advanced at various locations" notes James Paxson, Hacienda's general manager. "These projects included a variety of site and building improvements; some performed in anticipation of new tenants. There is no question that our market has been impacted by the events of the last year. However, we are encouraged by the ongoing activity seen to upgrade sites in response to tenant needs. The added complication of the pandemic has also been to alter the normal churn of our business cycle in such a way as to delay the onset of new business that we believe will eventually locate in the development. We are hopeful that, with the acceleration of the response to Covid-19, later this year we will start to see not only stabilization of economic activity but a resumption of interest in investment that has been the hallmark of the last several years."

Major transactions in 2020 were seen by companies in a variety of business segments. Tenant transactions include: Stanford Health Care/ValleyCare (Health Services), Calyxo (Biomedical), Joyful Kids Club (Tutoring), Maruti Food LLC (Retail), and Vector Atomic (Telecommunications).
